About Us

A professional organisation serving all Montessori schools and centres in Australia

Montessori Schools and Centres Australia (MSCA; sounds like MISS-kuh) was established in 2019 in response to a clear mandate from the community after the collapse of the Montessori Australia Foundation.

Our organisation has been set up with a strong governance structure that accords with the principles of this community mandate, so we take pride in becoming Australia’s only national, not-for-profit, democratic, membership-based representative body. MSCA members have a say in the future direction of our services, and our board directors are elected from the community each year. Essential values guide all our operations, services, and strategic planning, with our members and the Montessori community at the core of what we do.

We are confident and excited about what we have created in MSCA for the Montessori community in Australia. We aim to inspire and guide the stability and expansion of genuine Montessori practice as we champion Montessori education for the benefit of our society. In September 2022, MSCA became the official Australian Affiliated Society for the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
