About Our School

Perth Montessori was established over 40 years ago on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja in Burswood on the city’s edge. We offer Montessori education for children and adolescents from birth to 18 in an inclusive, personalised, small school environment. At Perth Montessori, our core purpose is to empower children in an environment based on the values of resilience and respect.

Being unashamedly Montessori means we develop independent students who follow their own blueprint for learning by engaging in multi-age classrooms and structured practical tasks. We do this because we respect that every student is on their own path and no two paths are the same, reducing social pressures to ‘succeed’. Every day in the prepared environment of our Montessori classrooms, our educators cultivate curious and critical minds, capable of shaping a sustainable and peaceful future in an interconnected world.

About Our Programs

Our holistic programs begin in playgroup (0 to 3), progress to the Children’s House (3 to 6), to Primary classes (6 to 12) and finally the Adolescent Program (12 to 18). We follow the National Montessori Curriculum which is approved at both the national and state level by the curriculum authorities. This means the Montessori curriculum and standards have been aligned to the mandated content, skills, and achievement outcomes of the West Australian Curriculum.

In Senior Secondary, students undertake project-based work according to their interests and desired post-school pathway. An individual pathway to tertiary study, training or employment is co-designed using the Big Picture learning design. Students undertake the International Big Picture Learning Credential, warranted by the University of Melbourne, providing alternative entry to hundreds of undergraduate university degrees. Additionally, they may sit the STAT (TISC approved) in their final year of schooling.
