Vale Barbara Stephen 1935–2021 ❤️
Barbara was well known for her amazing work on The Block in Redfern – an infamous indigenous community in the centre of Sydney. She was the founder of The Gamarada Montessori Learning Centre & Playgroup and in 2003, Barbara was awarded “Citizen of the Year” by South Sydney Council for her tireless contribution, not only to local early childhood education but also to the community at large.
We gratefully acknowledge her contributions both to Montessori education in Australia and the Redfern community.
