Uniting for the Future of Montessori in WA
Leaders from Perth’s Montessori schools collaborate on growth, training, and shared vision for advancing Montessori education across Western Australia.
On Tuesday 8 April the boards, principals and senior leaders from nine of the eleven Montessori schools in Perth came together to discuss how we can build and support Montessori practise in Western Australia. Each school shared their achievements from 2024/25 and provided a vision for their school over the coming years. The common themes were training of staff, facilities development and growth of programs.
Chris Massey Executive Director of the Association of Independent Schools of WA (AISWA) led a session of what role AISWA can take in helping to align the Montessori schools and thus create synergies and economies of scale. Sam Layton provided an overview and update from Montessori Institute (MI), Tara Taylor from the Sydney Montessori Training Centre (SMTC) spoke about the upcoming 0-3, 3-6, 6-12 and 12-18 Association Montessori International (AMI) Diploma courses planned for WA and Vanessa Aikins presented an update on Montessori Schools and Centres Australia (MSCA).
The schools worked together to look at how we can collectively support each other to ensure we have more places available in the future for children who want to undertake a Montessori education and our boards were totally engaged in this collaborative approach.
