Tips, Lessons and Montessori Perspective for Teachers

Introducing “Writing is a journey” by Fiona Mackenzie:

“In my experience you never can tell where a journey will lead or who you will meet along the way – people or creatures in places real or imagined.

This book has a Montessori heart, gleaned from my 20 years teaching in Montessori primary classrooms. It contains practical guidance, aligned to the development of the 6 –12-year-old child, in crafting narrative skills for the telling of powerful stories.

This book is a cumulation of half a lifetime of experiences gained in classrooms with children and colleagues, travels to other parts of the world to seek out knowledge and professional development, all consolidating the foundations of what was to become a deep love of teaching writing. It began in in a NZ public school classroom of six and seven year-olds, brushed by sea breezes, a five teacher haven in the industrial edge of town.”

About the Author

“I’m a writer and educator, born and raised in New Zealand, now based in Australia. I’ve spent more than twenty years teaching children ages six to twelve in Montessori classrooms and prior to that in NZ and Australian public schools. Along this journey I developed and honed my expertise towards guiding children in the art and joy of writing.”

How to order

You can pre-order here, with the book launching in February 2025 and available in Australia and New Zealand.

"Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people, citizens of distant epochs, who never knew one another"
