MSCA Team Update
We’re pleased to share an exciting update about the MSCA team as we continue to grow and strengthen our support for the Montessori community.
We want to extend a warm welcome to Tamiko de Silva! Tamiko joins Montessori Schools and Centres Australia (MSCA) as its new Executive Officer. Tamiko’s experience as a Montessori educator and administrator, and knowledge of the early learning sector, will support MSCA in its mission to support the growth and implementation of the Montessori approach in schools and centres.
A Message from Tamiko de Silva, Executive Officer
“I’m excited to join MSCA in the role of Executive Officer and look forward to getting to know everyone. I’m a mum of two and a passionate Montessori early childhood teacher. I trained as a 3-6 and 0-3 guide and have been privileged to serve in various leadership capacities with the Headland Montessori Group for most of my professional journey here in Australia.
My core belief is that the Montessori philosophy is a way of life, dedicated to following the child and being truly child-centred. I am committed to reinforcing the fundamental Montessori principle of nurturing the whole child and am deepening my understanding of children’s holistic needs through further postgraduate study.
I will be MSCA’s first port of call for membership and events management. Over the next fortnight, I look forward to introducing myself to MSCA members and would love to know how we can support your school and centre communities in 2026.”
A Message from Alice Champion, Project Officer
“After many years serving as Administrative Manager, I’m delighted to step into a new role for both myself and MSCA. Having recently completed studies in 6-12 Montessori education, I am looking forward to applying my skills and experience more directly to advance our work and improve our member offerings.
Developing resources and advancing key programs such as the Genuine Montessori Pathway will be my focus. I’m so pleased to have Tamiko on board! I remain deeply committed to MSCA and our community. We hope this new structure allows us to serve you better!”
Our Extended Team
Behind the scenes, and in addition to our volunteer board directors, we’re supported by dedicated professionals who ensure MSCA runs smoothly.
Sonia, our bookkeeper, manages our financial operations with care and precision, ensuring we meet all our superannuation and tax compliance obligations as part of our commitment to transparent and accountable governance.
Annette, our digital marketing coordinator, manages our online presence and communications, from our website and social media to member newsletters, helping to build awareness of genuine Montessori practice and keep our community connected and informed. Isn’t she doing a fabulous job?!
Looking Ahead
We’re confident this new structure will enhance our support for members and the wider Montessori community. We have streamlined our general email address to contact@msca.edu.au to ensure your query reaches the right person efficiently.
Emails to admin@msca.edu.au will continue to reach us, but we encourage you to update your records and use contact@msca.edu.au for all initial MSCA enquiries.
We’re excited about this new chapter and the enhanced capacity it brings to support genuine Montessori practice across Australia. Thank you for your continued trust in MSCA, and please join us in welcoming Tamiko to the team!
